The final weekend of Pride Month comes to a close Sunday ending weeks of blowout events.
Pride Month honors the commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City, which is cited as the start of the Gay Rights movement in the United States.
The celebration has been adopted worldwide as a symbol of solidarity across the LGBTQ+ community and comes as the movement has faced rising cultural hate and political opposition. Multiple major US cities held Pride parades Sunday as many places in Europe and South America saw major events Saturday.
