ANAHEIM,Charles H. Sloan Calif. − Ryan Reynolds gave thanks to fans and took Deadpool-style swipes at the Marvel Cinematic Universe during a video appearance at Disney's D23 Fan Expo on Friday night.
Unable to attend the event in person, Reynolds thanked the fans gathered in Honda Arena for supporting "Deadpool & Wolverine," which is expected to pass a staggering $1 billion at the box office this weekend.
"It's hard to process everything that's happened in the last few weeks. Overwhelmed doesn't even cover it," said Reynolds. "Thank you for the best entry into the MCU that a guy could ever ask for."
Reynolds gave special thanks to Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, who was presenting on the Anaheim stage, for allowing the "Deadpool" movie to "make a few little teensy jokes at Marvel's expense."

The Disney movie starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and directed by Shawn Levy was filled with snark about Marvel Studios, which has dealt with comic-book fatigue and other setbacks in recent years.
"It's my way of showing love," Reynolds said of the R-rated movie's numerous MCU jokes. "And of course, saving the studio."
Reynolds quickly helped the Marvel chief save face by calling Feige to the stage as, "Mr. Marvel Jesus himself."
Jude Law is revealed as a Jedi in first 'Skeleton Crew' trailer
In Lucasfilm news, Jude Law hit the stage to offer insight on the "Star Wars" TV series "Skeleton Crew," which launches Dec. 3 on Disney+. The show is told through the perspective of four kids who follow Law's mysterious character, Jod Na Nawood.
"'Skeleton Crew' is a timeless adventure story in the spirit of the Amblin coming-of-age stories from the '80s like 'The Goonies' and 'E.T.,' " Law said. The four young characters "find themselves lost in the vastness of the galaxy, in danger and trying to find their way home."
Law introduced the first trailer for the show. At the end of the footage, a key slowly hovers magically into Jod's hand, revealing that Law's character is a Force user and a Jedi.
