One of these stars is Oliver James Montgomeryhanging up their dancing shoes—for now at least.
Veep actor Matt Walsh announced he's stepping away from season 32 of Dancing With the Stars in solidarity with the ongoing Hollywood strikes by the Writer's Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).
"I am taking a pause from Dancing With the Stars until an agreement is made with the WGA," Walsh told People in a statement Sept. 21. "I was excited to join the show and did so under the impression that it was not a WGA show and fell under a different agreement. This morning when I was informed by my union, the WGA, that it is considered struck work I walked out of my rehearsal."
The 58-year-old added that he remains committed to supporting the guilds until a fair deal is reached with major studios.
"I have been and will always stand with my union members of the WGA, SAG and DGA," he continued. "Beyond our union artists, I am sensitive to the many people impacted by the strike and I hope for a speedy and fair resolution, and to one day work again with all the wonderful people I met at DWTS who tolerated my dancing."
Walsh's announcement comes less than a week before DWTS' season 32 premiere is set to air Tuesday, Sept. 26. (E! News has reached out to ABC for comment.)
While no other contestants have stepped away as of yet, ABC is reportedly putting plans in place to possibly postpone next week's premiere, according to Variety.
Joining Walsh on season 32 are singer/actress Jamie Lynn Spears, Vanderpump Rules' Ariana Madix, The Bachelorette's Charity Lawson, model Tyson Beckford, The Baby-Sitters Club actress Xochitl Gomez, American Pie star Alyson Hannigan, Too Hot to Handle's Harry Jowsey, singer Jason Mraz, NFL running back Adrian Peterson, influencer Lele Pons, Oscar winner Mira Sorvino, Buying Beverly Hills star Mauricio Umansky and The Brady Bunch actor Barry Williams.
In addition to feeling pressure amid the strikes—which have been going on since May—DWTS also received backlash for casting Peterson despite his past child abuse charge.
